Bountiful Harvest!

You will be able to help those in need in your community while reaping the benefits of growing your own fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables in an urban environment. Apples, pears, plums, peaches, and more thrive in our area if cared for correctly. Community projects, such as the orchard, help to improve people’s access to a healthy, affordable, and sustainable food source, and to improve community food security.

Get to know your neighbors!

Get to know your neighbors!

The orchard and garden offers the perfect opportunity to spend quality time with your family in the outdoors. This is a great opportunity to provide families with the knowledge and means to grow their own fresh produce and thus control their own food security.

Get to know your neighbors. The orchard and garden help to bring the community together through cooperative care of the fruit trees and the garden plants.

Grow your own low cost fruits and vegetables to save money in these tough economic times.

This is the start of something BIG!

Nutritionists recommend that we eat five portions of fruit and vegetables a day. By harvesting your own, you can ensure that you have the freshest food available. Growing your own food has been shown to reduce stress and offers the added health benefits of exercise, fresh air, and peace and quiet

By growing in our own community, we cut down on the energy and emissions that would otherwise be used to transport food to the local supermarkets.

Gardening skills are developed by growing your own food. Moreover, food production is an ecological and sustainable means of economic development that addresses both hunger and hopelessness.
Develop the local production of fruits and vegetables and to provide community food security.

Teaching & Education

They are never too young to learn.

Feeding Many recognizes that urban gardening offers a wonderful opportunity for lifelong learning. The Community Orchard and Garden offers a range of educational opportunities and events.

The orchard and garden are designed as a demonstration area where people can learn about growing fruit trees in small urban spaces while ensuring that the orchard receives proper care. It also encourages healthy eating by raising awareness about the origins of our food.

Bring out the little helper.

The Children’s Gardening Program is an in-school and after-school program to help children and youth learn about and enjoy the benefits of gardening. Children are introduced to food production, nutrition, composting, ecological awareness, and preparing the food they grow. The purpose is to delight and engage children in the wonders and beauties of making things grow, of learning to save our environment, and to spread this knowledge to others.
